Project: Tate Modern 2
Client: Tate Modern
Main Contractor: Byrne Bros
Architect: Herzog & de Meuron
REL was contracted for the design development and installation of the electrical containment at the iconic Tate 2 extension to the Tate Modern, a unique twisted steel frame and concrete building designed by Herzog & de Meuron.
Working closely with the concrete framework contractor, Byrne Brothers, whom we have a long standing relationship with, REL installed the containment as the building was built, putting it in place within the steel sections prior to the concrete pour.
Through innovation & development of the original concept design, we proposed the use of a new containment system that speeded up installation and enhanced the accuracy of the containment infrastructure, persuading the project’s electrical consultants to change the specification which ensured a seamless end result and enabled a flexible delivery programme.
