Project: BMW, Park Lane, London
Main Contractor: Styles & Wood
Architect: HamburyHird Ltd
BMW was an Official Partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to maximise the value of that brand alignment the company refurbished its flagship Mayfair showroom in time for the opening ceremony.
Involving the showroom’s lower ground and ground floors, the project required a high-spec electrical fit-out, which saw three former showrooms combined to create one large space with a 54m façade.
The scheme also included structural alterations to incorporate a car lift and new staircases, bespoke features including LED walls and LCD screens, and a twin-walled shop front.
The changes to the building’s layout also required REL to complete modifications to the existing electrical supplies into the building and the scheme also involved installation of VESDA smoke detection within concealed pelmets around the showroom.
