REL Building Services has reached the final of the Electrical Industry Awards 2018. The company is in the running to win the ‘Electrical Project of the Year’ accolade for its work at the Sapphire Ice and Leisure Centre in Romford.
Constructed by Willmott Dixon for The London Borough of Havering, the £28m facility is one of only a few in the UK to comprise a floating ice rink above a competition swimming pool. It also features a fitness suite with 100 stations and a unique façade, which resembles a block of ice through the use of innovative lighting.
Toby Buckley, REL’s managing director said: “We’re thrilled to be named a finalist in our industry’s top awards.
“Construction of the Sapphire Ice and Leisure Centre was very complex so required a wide range of specialist skills. We’re proud to have played such a key role in the project and that this work has been recognised by the judges.”
Now in their 26th year, the Electrical Industry Awards reward and celebrate the best products, people, businesses and projects across the electrical sector.
The awards dinner and ceremony will take place on Thursday, 25th October 2018 at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington. More than 400 guests are expected to attend.
This is the third consecutive year that REL has made the final.
