We're pleased to welcome Jake Briggs to REL who joins us as an electrical apprentice.
Sixteen-year-old Jake will be taking part in our long-established apprenticeship scheme, which has seen more than 20% of our existing employees work their way up the ranks into senior positions.
Jake will be mentored by operations manager Sean Corcoran, who also joined as an apprentice aged 16. Sean will provide on the job training and supervision and also assist with the assessment process.
Sean said: "I'm looking forward to working with Jake and supporting him throughout his apprenticeship. We have several major projects currently underway and more in the pipeline for leading contractors such as Kier and Willmott Dixon, which will enable Jake to gain valuable experience across a diverse range of electrical jobs across London and the south east.
Jake added: "Having just left school, this is a great opportunity for me to dive straight into work, learning a new skill that will help me develop a successful career. REL provides a really welcoming, supportive and friendly environment, so I can't want to get started."
REL's apprenticeship scheme was launched more than 50 years ago. The scheme takes up to five years to complete and as soon as an apprentice becomes fully qualified, a new one is appointed, so that there is no break in the process.
One of our first apprentices still works as an electrical engineer for REL and has clocked up more than 40 years' service.
